These days, global warming has been one of the controversial issues in the international society that many environmental experts have warned that it would bring about huge calamities on the earth sooner or later. Because of global warming, the survey originated from many specialists has shown that the Wilkins’s ice shelves located in Antarctica have been eroded more rapidly than they might have thought. For the past 30 years, 20 percent of them have been disappeared under global warming’s effects. It would be able to have a bad effect on surging, calving into icebergs, and raising the sea level. For instance, West Antarctica is one of the most influenced areas, including the peninsula. Some scientists announced that one of the glaciers in West Antarctica has gradually thinned at an average rate of 63 inches a year from 1992 to 1996, although it had thinned at a rate one and half inches a year for the past 4,700 years. On the other hand, some scientists insisted that the global warming should be now regarded as an excessive worrying. In historical terms, they asserted, a crumbling ice shelf had been continuing between the Roman era and the Medieval Warm Period as a temporary phenomenon. Also, they argued that the glacial ice gradually become solid and thickened, which will make it stable longer. However, I think that one cannot emphasize too much the potential danger of the global warming because we are able to perceive a lot of bad situations related to global warming.
Therefore, I am strongly convinced that we should make ceaseless effort to protect the rumbling ice shelves in Antarctica from the global warming, not wanting to have brought on disastrous situations, in the following ways: reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Firstly, reducing is one of the simple ways to save the earth from the global warming. According to development of our society, we are prone to use a lot of products thoughtlessly. If we would consider one more time reducing products in our ordinary life, the environmental situations would be gradually getting better now. An example of what I want to say is that we had better use public transportation instead of our own cars if it is possible; that is, reducing the number of times using cars would be one of the proper methods to prevent the global warming. Thus, we are able to find various ways and continue to work to stop the temperature’s growth.
Secondly, we also can consider reusing goods that we used so that we can be saving resources and preventing emissions from being produced. Many people are apt to prefer new products instead of used ones. Reusing can offers not only the ability to get wealthy individually, but also to provide against the temperature’s growth on the earth. Of course, there are some exceptions in these cases. One of them would be a used car. Rather, using a used car might cause trouble in air pollution. However, the concept of reusing should be taught and spread all over the world in order to make a wealthy and clean society.
Lastly, many countries have driven forward many kinds of recycling businesses to make their own profits as well as to deal with their own environmental problems. In Korea, generally, citizens only make use of collective wastebaskets when throwing away the garbage. I think that that is enough to save the world, no matter how much it is a tiny chore. Recycling should be developed and spread over the international society either directly or indirectly. It seems that recycling would help us overcome the difficulties in global warming.
In conclusion, it is true that international society must be confronted with serious environmental matters these days. Therefore, all countries should be together and continuously work to save our beautiful world. Even though there are many ways to protect the earth from global warming, reducing, reusing, ad recycling are more effective methods that we can easily. Moreover, the specialists and scientists should present it to stop increasing the temperature’s growth on the earth. We are on collaborating together to live happily in the world.
